Core Premise
Vincent Jackson, a meek maintenance technician who repairs the fiber-optic veins of the mega-city, waits for his wife Michel outside the World History Museum on their 27th birthday. He finds her body on the floor. Framed for her murder, betrayed by his best friend, and forced into the service tunnels with only her diary, he begins a descent that will uncover a conspiracy far larger than one killing.

Vincent “Vince” Jackson
Meek, detail-oriented engineer. Habitual cough from the gas catastrophe that killed most of his family. Childhood sweetheart and “cradle twin” to Michel. Forced to become a rat in the tunnels.
Michel Jackson (née Gideon)
Passionate about ancient civilizations. Defied her family’s ascension to the Stratosphere to stay in the Blocks and marry Vince. Discovers an heirloom photo of a real peony that sets everything in motion. Murdered at the museum.
Central Symbol
The Neon Peony — a beautiful historical flower once considered a scourge that depleted resources. It becomes the symbol of hidden truths, the lost natural world, and the corruption that erased them.
